Great Turnout for the Block Party Event

 
Our 4th-Annual, Academy Hill block party was a tremendous success.  Despite the rainy weather, many people attended the event and had a really great time.  Nandee Willets, owner of Rivers Edge Farm, provided us with pony rides, and also surprised us with a few animals from her farm for the kids to see and pet.  My personal favorites were the baby pig and goat, who looked to be enjoying the day as much as the kids.  We were so worried about the weather and heavy rain, earlier in the day before and at the start of the event, but the skies cleared and we ended up with the greatest afternoon to enjoy!

Since our marketing launch in 2009, I have become very fond of the community, and as many readers know, I relocated my family here last year for the long-term.  I feel very fortunate to have such a great community and the support of our local businesses.  This became so apparent again, yesterday, and I would like to thank Bailey's Bar & Grille, which helped us when we were in a bit of a bind.  We had a slight challenge with our catering vendor, who arrived almost an hour late after going to the wrong address, somewhere across town.  When they finally arrived to the Block Party, they had forgotten their chafing pans!  On a Sunday afternoon, I could not find a rental company, so I made a a quick call to nearby Bailey's Bar and Grill, and within minutes, I was provided with a potential source for chafing dishes, which were graciously lended to us for the afternoon from the Country Club.  I frequent Bailey's often with family and friends, and I would highly recommend a visit if you are near Academy Hill.   Bailey's is a family run business, and recently earned Nashoba Valley's number one recognition for Best Drink and Best Entree at the Taste of Nashoba.  (link opens in new window)

Many of our Academy Hill residents attended the party, and this provided a great opportunity for the potential, home buyers to meet their potential neighbors and discuss their experiences with purchasing an Academy Hill home.

The DJ was Chris from Touch of Class out of Marlborough, MA.  He was very popular with the kids, and kept them occupied with games and activities, while serving a great mix of music that the kids and parents could both enjoy.

Save the date!  Our Fourth-Annual, Academy Hill Block Party is going to be on Sunday, September 30th at the new sales office location at 24 Arbor Way.

Last year, the Block Party was a huge success, and prospective buyers and residents enjoyed food, music, and activities.  There have been many new sales this year, and the Block Party is a great opportunity to meet your new neighbors.

'Sleeping Beauty' at the Groton Country Club

My 4-year-old daughter loves books, and has been participating in the Groton Public Library's Summer Reading Program.  She really enjoys our library, and there are many great events and activities.  Have a look at their calendar page:

Last night, was the Tanglewood Marionettes rendition of Sleeping Beauty, held by the Groton Public Library.  Due to the more favorable location for the performance, the event was held at the Groton Country Club.

After the performance, the marionettes were even brought out for the kids to view and handle!

"Founded in 1993 by Anne Ware and Peter Schaefer, Tanglewood Marionettes is a nationally touring marionette theater based in New England. Our repertoire consists primarily of classic tales performed by skilled puppeteers who have spent many years perfecting their art."

I really enjoy having such a great library in Groton.  As a youth, I remember feeling as though my local library was a portal into a new world.  As I read the books in the children's section, I recall having fun and being inspired to use my imagination to write my own stories.  Libraries are such a nurturing environment for the next generation of writers.  I do my best to support them whenever possible. 

I should also mention that the resources available for us grown-ups are great, too, and if you have not joined the GPL yet, I highly recommend doing so.

Great News and Busy Times at Academy Hill

In case you have not seen the great news, national home prices have climbed for the fourth, consecutive month, according to the S&P/Case-Shiller home-price index, and as reported yesterday in the Wall Street Journal.  This is really great news, and economists are saying that this is a leading indicator for an improving economy, overall.  

Academy Hill has maintained a great track record of exceptional sales and consistency in value since I started here in 2009, and I am happy to learn about the Case-Schiller sales data, indicating that the market is continuing to improve as we follow through with completing our sales, here.  I typically see a very strong Fall market for home sales here in Groton, so combined with the great activity so far, this may be our strongest year yet!

Sales are going especially well right now, and I am busier than ever.  I am very happy to say that we will be welcoming new neighbors to both Arbor Way and Magnolia Lane within the next few weeks, and I just took a couple of new reservations for our third phase, too.

Also, I should mention that construction work  is in full-swing on lots 19 and 12 this week, so please be extra careful when using our construction entrance at Cherry Tree Lane.

New Sales Center - Move-in Progress...

Today, we are completing final refinements in the new sales center.  Soon we will be ready to move the staging furniture into our home at 24 Arbor Way.  I look forward to inviting all of you over to stop in to say hiat this Chesterfield-style home, once the moving and staging are complete.  Office internet and cable will be installed soon, too.  In the meantime, I have been hovering between using the existing wifi at the town home, sales office location, while driving over periodically to the new model home location, in case visitors arrive through the Cherry Tree Lane entrance.  I really look forward to getting settled in at the new office!

Moving my Sales Center to Arbor Way

I am so happy with the great sales activity and all of the interest in Academy Hill this year.  In case anyone was wondering, I am moving the sales center to 24 Arbor Way today.   Last week, I was still moving the office from the town homes, to the Hampton-style home on the corner of Arbor Way.  However, we reached an agreement on that model home with a new family before we had the chance to complete the staging and connect the internet and phones!

Some of you will remember that in 2010, we moved the Cherry Tree Lane sales office 3 times in 3 weeks because of fast sales.  The homes would sell as soon as phones and internet were connected at that time, so I hope that history will repeat itself on Arbor Way for 2012!

1st Academy Hill Community Fitness Boot Camp of 2012!

The "Princess Bed House"

Does anyone here remember this "princess" bed?  Seeing the Academy Hill model homes being staged with furniture and decor is always a fun part of my job.  From my experience, I think that our professional designer Linda Goodwin has a great eye for furnishings and decor, creating the most memorable viewing experience for our open house guests.   I particularly enjoyed using the home at 25 Magnolia Lane as the sales office because of her great staging.

I hold this particular "princess" bed responsible for the unusually high number of buyers with young girls during the time I was using the Expanded Sterling-style model home on Magnolia Lane.  My daughter calls this model home the "princess bed house"!  (For the record, contrary to rumors, I do not take naps in the princess bed on my breaks.  It is far too short for my stature and the mattress is far too firm.)

Habitech has many, great new communities throughout the area with Linda Goodwin's staging, and sometimes I might lose a set of furniture to one site or another, while gaining or losing individual pieces in the process.   I am happy to report that the staged model home at 25 Magnolia Lane has recently sold, and it will soon be readied for our newest residents to join Academy Hill.  As a result, I might lose some of this home's furniture as Linda continues to work her magic, updating and adding new items, phasing out the looks that are no longer as exciting.  However, I will certainly be keeping the princess bed on-site!  Time for a new princess bed house, though...  perhaps the new Chesterfield Plan on Arbor Way?

Thanks for the great comments about living at Academy Hill!  With so much completed, I cant believe it has only been 2.5 years or so.  I have been thinking of how much has gone on in the few years since I began with the sales here.  I especially enjoy being an Academy Hill resident with my family, too...  I certainly can not complain about my long commute anymore!
